In March, my husband found out he was being transferred to Great Britain with his work. At the time, we had a daughter in college in Washington DC who was preparing to transfer out of state, we had a home we'd been expecting to stay in for the forseeable future that we were sad we were going to have to sell, and a few weeks later, we learned that my mother passed away in her sleep in her home several hours away. It was a time of emotional upheaval, from the funeral for my mother and going through my duties as executor of her estate to getting residence visas for overseas to getting my daughter moved to Miami.
